Mentee Enrollment Activities

Applicant and their parent or guardian must consent to:

Child/protégé’ s participation in the mentoring program.

Comply to assigned role and responsibilities.

Follow the mentoring program’s Code of Conduct.

Mentees must stay in the program for the duration of the mentoring session, except when unforeseen events occur.

A program coordinator will schedule a follow up meeting with mentee and parent/guardian.

The application and phone conversation information will be used to identify mentors that match a mentee’s interests.

Mentee and parent/guardian will receive an acceptance email if accepted into the program.

​If not accepted, if applicable, applicant and their parent or guardian may take corrective actions.

Mentee and their parent/guardian will be invited to a mandatory online orientation to learn more about the program and its services.

Mentee will be match with a mentor with common career path interests.

If mentee and mentor agree, their mentoring relationship will begin.

During the mentoring session, mentees are required to work with their mentor and follow the program requirements.

Program coordinators will send reminders and notifications as needed.

Mentee will be asked to fill out few surveys to provide feedback about their experience.

Exit interview: Attend a  video meeting with a program coordinator.

Mentee will receive a recognition certificate at the end of a mentoring session.

Mentor Enrollment Activities

Consent to a background check prior to acceptance into the program.

​Mentors pay for the background check. The cost is $12 and the program will send you an email with the link to submit your request through Verified Volunteer or you could get a free BC from your State).

Consent to Mentors’ Role and Responsibilities.

Agree to the Mentor’s Code of Conduct.​

Consent to stay on the program for the duration of the mentoring session, unless under circumstances beyond their control.

Submit an application.

A program coordinator will contact the mentor applicant for a follow up conversation.

The follow up conversation will serve to collect additional information regarding applicant’ interests and goals.

The application and phone conversation information will be used to identify mentors that match mentee’s interests.

Future mentors are notified of conditional (pending background check results) acceptance decision via email.

Future mentors will submit a background check that meets the following requirements:

Comprehensive criminal background check results including a search from national criminal records database along with sex offender and child abuse registries.​

If all requested documents are received within the set deadline and are satisfactory, future mentors will receive attend an orientation training

Mentors will have access to training, webinars, and soft skills training.​

Applicants who are not accepted may be given the opportunity to take corrective actions.

Mentors will receive an invitation to attend a mandatory online orientation to learn about the program and its services.

Mentor will be matched with a mentee with common career path interest.

If both mentee and mentor agree to work with each other, their mentoring relationship will begin.

During the mentoring session, mentors are required to work with mentees and follow the program requirements.

Program coordinators will send reminders and notifications as needed.

Program coordinators will be available for support as needed.

Exit Interview: Attend a video meeting with a program coordinator.

Mentors will receive a recognition certificate at the end of a mentoring session.
